"Classification of 'Paranormal' Activities"

There is a very broad term thrown around out there, it's called 'PARANORMAL'. This word is used to describe virtually anything we don't know about. All of this information is purely speculation based on experiments, personal experiences, and clinical review of evidence.

I would like to try and dissect some of the anomalies out there, as they are currently being classified by the experts.

First of all, just because You don't know what something is, doesn't make it a Ghost, or Paranormal Occurrence. There are many, many, factors to finding the true source for reported 'Hunting's. Most of the time, You'll find a very logical, and natural explanation for noises, misplaced items, and even visions.

With that said, let's assume we have a case with a legit 'Haunting' of a spirit.

There is much speculation in this field. Those who Investigate, try to stay objective.  After all, why bother to investigate if we've already made up our minds.

Among the Speculation, due to evidence gathered, and personal experiences, is the basis for categorization of the different 'Entities' that have been experienced, reported and documented. They fall into the following classes based on activity level.

RESIDUAL HAUNTING

This is the most common type of 'Ghost'. It can be a noise, voice, or even a Full Bodied Apparition. It will usually occur on a schedule, be it annual, weekly, daily, on an anniversary, or any other time or date. This type of 'Ghost' is not interactive with the living, or environment. It's much like watching a Video, it just goes about it's routine without consciousness.

The Theory is that this is an imprint on the area that was made by extreme energy, be it emotional (good or bad), human, or otherwise. Images and sounds have imprinted themselves using the local area as a medium, much like the exposure will imprint an image on film. what collects and replay's this event, No One is sure, most think it is just general energy, that occurs at the time of 'Recording' and 'Replay'. What causes that 'energy' is speculated, but unknown to this day.

INTELLIGENT HAUNTING

These are a little more rare. These 'Spirit's are semi-interactive. By semi-interactive I mean they have a certain level of consciousness, and in most cases a willingness to interact. This process is impeded by either knowledge, or abilities. You will sometimes get clear sentences on audio recordings, perhaps an image on film or video, and very rarely a full bodied apparition, and any of these anomalies will usually be distorted in some way, or even mixed with 'Live' subjects. These entities seem to try to make contact with the living, and have done so via modern decodable recording technology, but a solid bridge for communication has not been made yet. Also, this usually does not occur in 'Real Time'. Content is usually discovered only after extensive review of recorded media several day's later.

The theories are many, from trapped human souls in purgatory, to forever traveling radio waves. There are even theories that the living human brain unknowingly conjures theses activities telekinetically. The source really has to be judged by the content of the evidence and it's relevance to the present situation it was gathered under.

POLTERGEIST HAUNTING

This is the most feared of 'Paranormal' activity. Mostly because it seems to have the power to manipulate it's material surroundings, and sometimes even the living. Due to the popularity of Hollywood movies on the subject, just the word 'Poltergeist' usually scares the heck out of people. But the term is a little broader than that in definition.

The theory is a 'poltergeist' is a 'Spirit', that is Intelligent, with the capacity to manipulate material objects, and will do so in front of people. This may be in an effort to scare you, or just make it's presence known. The biggest difference between the 'Intelligent' and 'Poltergeist' Entities is the willingness to interact blatantly, and sometimes, although rarely, defiant. Sometimes these entities do cause harm. It is said that a common thread in Poltergeist Haunting is the presence of Adolescent, or Teenaged Girls in the home. There are also studies that suggest that the volatile emotions and ages of these Girls, contracts an unknown telekinetic result.

DEMONIC HAUNTING

You don't have to subscribe to any particular religion to be exposed to, and believe in a 'Demonic' entity. If these things are real, their belief in you is quite enough to result in a most unpleasant interaction. These are Malevolent spirits by nature and will be the cause of all kinds of problems, even to the point of physical harm, and or personality change in living humans. They exist only to cause grief.

The theory is these are 'Non-Human' Entities, that is they have never walked the earth as in Human Form, like it is suggested of the other classes of Entity. They have a wide capacity to do harm, and prey on any advantage to do so. Many religions talk about 'Demons' and they have been in stories for thousands of years. It has been hypothesized that Your Conviction, no matter what religion or belief, is the only weapon to protect yourself from these dangerous beings. These beings have also been blamed for countless 'Possessions' of humans, usually the weaker of us, children, elderly, etc.. There must be some validity to these theories as the Catholic Church, the largest organized religious group in the world, has been practicing 'Exorcisms" for centuries. 

So, could all of this be real? Or are we all subject to unknown interactions within our Own minds. Could this be a version of the Human Minds 'Placebo's Effect, or is it the product of a Human need to label things, and to try to understand them?
